Customize the shape of the bokeh with a neat little hack from diyphotography.net
Did you know you can sort of “customize” the shape of the bokeh in your shots? Me either. Just ran across this today over at diyphotography.net and thought I would pass on the link. Click here to checkout a very simple and cheap (nearly free) way to try something new.
Can you imagine what Christmas lights on a house may look like with this? Or that Christmas tree in back of your kids? Maybe we could convince Jim to create a photo contest for the improvephotography.com community for the best use of this effect.
Comment below if you have tried something like this or if you think you will.
Yep, I tried it last year and created heart bokeh. This year, I’m going to try a few other shapes.
Here’s my heart bokeh: http://www.jennierosedesigns.blogspot.com/2013/12/christmas-traditions.html. I shot this photo with my Nikon D700 and a 50mm f/1.4 lens.
Thank you for sharing this — I tried this out recently https://www.flickr.com/photos/123377169@N05/16361771437/ it was really fun! I encourage everyone to try it out.
