Erica & Nick answer some of the recent questions posted in the Portrait Session Facebook Group!
Only a few seats left in Nick and Majeed’s Oregon coast workshop!!!
Nick has a Drone on the way! Â (very much looking forward to trying to get some epic portraits with it!)
Listener Questions:
- Charles Hasser: I had an idea pop into my head this week while driving. Â There's a 1950s style ice cream shop in my town with a cool neon sign. Â They have vintage car nights. Â Wouldn't it be cool to offer vintage car portraits of the owners with their cars with the neon sign in the background as the sun is setting. Â How would you go about setting up shots like this? Â What off-camera lights would you use to accentuate the classic car while also getting a great portrait of the owner? Â How would you pose the owner?
- Graeme Gerster When I ask this I understand that “it depends” on a lot. But as somebody starting to try to charge, what are appropriate ranges for prices. What's to high? What's to low? Can you cover this in a different way than calculating and determining self worth? Â Something along the lines of $12.95 is to low for a 1 hour session. It should be around $X
- Jenny Wu Directing models on set in an editorial style shoot- how to direct experienced models vs newer models. Using moodboards and shot lists.
- John Sharp: I am doing a shoot for a 15 year old aspiring model on her farm so she can have a more diverse portfolio. She wants barns, tractors, maybe other farm subjects as the theme. I will be using off camera flash for all pictures. Should I do the typical senior portrait type session or get more stylish since she is a model? Â How would Nick Page address this session for her to get stellar photos for her Portfolio?
