Portraits
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM
Mount: Canon EF. A simple prime to consider for portraits and available-light work. On a crop-sensor DSLR it gives a tighter view than on full frame.
A fixed focal length cannot replace a zoom; check your working distance.
Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
Mount: Canon EF. A short telephoto portrait option when you have room to step back from your subject.
Indoors or on a crop-sensor body its field of view can be tight.
Landscapes and interiors
Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM
Mount: Canon EF. A wide-angle zoom for full-frame landscapes, architecture and environmental portraits.
The f/4 maximum aperture calls for longer exposures or higher ISO at night.
Wildlife and distant subjects
Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM
Mount: Canon EF. A long zoom to compare for wildlife when subject distance varies.
Check size, weight and your required shutter speed before choosing a long lens.
Night and low light
Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM
Mount: Canon EF. A wide prime for night work and environmental scenes on full frame.
Its large aperture does not remove the need for careful focusing and a stable camera.

Travel and everyday photography
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM
Mount: Canon EF. A standard-to-telephoto zoom for travel and general photography on full frame.
On an APS-C DSLR the wide end becomes a normal field of view.
Macro and small subjects
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM
Mount: Canon EF. A dedicated macro option for small subjects and product details.
Macro depth of field is shallow; additional light and careful technique often matter.
