I would normally recommend a 50mm f/1.8 in this situation, but since you said you already have one, I think the Tamron 28-75 is a great option. It's one of the best lenses in the Tamron lineup, and it's cheap compared to other lenses of similar quality. I think it's a worthy competitor to a 24-70 for those on a budget. Seriously, this is the one you want.
