There are many excellent lenses that match your criteria, and the obvious choice would be a 24-70mm f/2.8. I actually prefer the Tamron version to the Canon because of the image stabilization and lower price, but the Canon is optically impeccable. Personally, though, I don't know how much sense it would make for you to buy a lens that costs more than your crop sensor camera. Another lens that most people overlook is the Tamron 28-75, which is a FANTASTIC lens at a VERY good price. If you're on a budget, the 28-75 is a no-brainer.
