Day 16 – Lenses

Photo Exercise

Take a look at your own lenses and see which category they fall under.

Quick Notes:
Wide Angle -8mm – 24mm
These give you a wider field of view in your lens. Landscape photographers use these lenses because.

Fixed Focal Length/Prime Lens – 50mm, 85mm, 100mm, 150mm
These are the most affordable lenses that you can get. The 50mm lenses are very popular and an absolute must!

Standard Zoom Lens – 24mm – 105mm
Because of the zoom range, you will see a very slight reduction in quality. But the range gives you flexibility when on a shoot to go from wide shots to close up shots.

Telephoto Lens – 70mm – 200mm
These lenses are often much more expensive. Portrait photographers like these lenses because it helps add some distance between them and their models. Makes things more comfortable.

Tele-Converter
These add focal length to your lens, but they change the optics of your lens. Don’t let this be your first option because the quality won’t be as good as you would like.

Specialty Lenses
These lenses would include Tilt-Shift or Fish-eye. They allow the image to come through in a more creative and abstract way.
