Memory cards are difficult to buy, but the choice of a memory card is easy if you own a Nikon D7000. The only thing left to decide is what sizing of card you'd like to buy.
Sandisk and Nikon worked together to produce an SD memory card that can work faster with the Nikon D7000 than any other SD memory card.
The marketing departments of the sd memory card manufacturers must work overtime trying to think of new and confusing systems which will make their cards seem faster than the “other guy.”
In the search for faster and faster memory cards, you may be surprised to know that often a faster memory card will provide no benefit to your camera's speed. It works like a bottleneck. When the camera takes a picture, the sensor captures information and passes it to the buffer, and the buffer passes the information to the memory card. If the processor in the camera is slow, using a faster memory card won't make a bit of difference in speed. In many cases, however, the memory card is the weak link in the chain.
With that understanding, you might be interested to know that the new Nikon D7000 is the only DSLR on planet Earth that can take advantage of the new UHS technology in SD memory cards. Unlike most SD cards that max out at 20 megabytes per second maximum write speed, the new Sandisk UHS memory card can be fully used by the Nikon D7000. Other DSLRs will see no benefit in using this card rather than a regular class 10 memory card.
If you own a Nikon D7000, this is THE best memory card for your camera… no question. Buy this memory card on Amazon.com. (Updated to the new and improved SanDisk 1TB Extreme Pro SDXC
In fact, buy two since the Nikon D7000 has two memory card slots. It comes in many different storage capacities!
Sandisk has had this type of exclusive with Nikon DSLRs before. The D90 was only able to use the power of the 30 megabytes per second SD card made by Sandisk, and not similar SD cards made by other manufacturers.

Thanks for the Info….. Just purchased a Nikon D7000, and just ordered 4 cards.
Comment from Tom (Somehow it got marked as SPAM, sorry!) “Looks like the special SanDisk ExtremePro adapter is needed – will this still transfer at 45 MBps in a standard SD slot?”
@Tom No, it won’t transfer at 45mbps to the computer without a fast memory card reader, but it will allow you to write that fast on the camera.
We’re getting a D7000 and looking at this very SD card from. It’s odd that it’s listed for $160 on sandisk and in a local photoshop it’s $150. But on Amazon it’s $72? And even at Walmart it’s $69!!
I heard there were lots of knock-off Sandisk cards, so i’m suspicious of a card that’s half the price. Have you been satisfied with the cards from that Amazon seller?
Lol, it’s $13 right now.
7.99 for the card and 4.99 for shipping
what about the new nikon D5100 i bought
that camera and i like to know if the extreme pro will work at the same speed in the D5100 than the D7000
This card would still be the fastest possible memory card for the D5100, but you will not be able to fully max out the card speed.
I know your a Nikon shooter but is there any cards you suggest specifically for Canon or the 7d?
I am curious about this. I bought a class 10 transcend card, and get a buffer of 9 RAW shots. What’s the buffer size with this card?

You sure do know very well what youre talking about. Man, this web site is merely great! I cant wait to read much more of what youve got to say. Im really happy that we discovered this once i did because I had been really starting to become bored with all the whole blogging scene. Youve turned me around, man!
If you’re not a great author then it might be ideal not to try and write your tales your self. You’ll want to bring in help to complete them for you personally personally to make sure which you obtain all the info you would like put across and you do not be or perhaps your business look poor.
Can you please provide your opinion on the newer San DISK that is 32GB but 90Mbps rateing called PRO. Does the D7000 take full advantage of the added speed…or it the one rated at 45 Mbps the limitation?
A class 1? Uhm… I wouldn’t buy that. Get 2 Class 10’s for your dual slot
You can buy 2 32GB Lexar Pro’s for cheaper than one of those. These Lexar’s are a class 10 and higher quality; work great

So I guess you didn’t read the article, Jehlef? This card is FASTER than a regular class 10 card.
What do you recommend for a Canon?
Would you recommend the same thing for a nikon d5100?
I recently purchased one of these cards:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007M54E08/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Everything looks the same as the card you wrote about, but mine’s not “Pro.” The one in the link is a class 10, but the stats seems to be the same (up to 45 MB/sec). Is the “Pro” card that much better?
I just purchased the D7000 and after reading your article I’m going with SanDisk memory cards. Which of the 64GB memory cards do you recommend:
Extreme 64GB (SDXC)
Extreme Pro 64GB (SDXC) UHS-I
Ultra 64GB (SDXC) UHS-I Class 10
Thanks!!!
