  1. Jim, I was really surprised you didn’t mention opening up Google Earth to locate good photo locations where you are traveling. Often, there are already photos of that place already geotagged and embedded in the program. Street view can show you the terrain from the roadway, and the topography can be shown when street view isn’t available. Sometimes, by doing that, you find a gem of a location that hasn’t already been shot up by the masses. And that’s a good thing.

  2. Hi Jim

I agree with your comments about travel photography 100%.
I try to get away for 4 days a couple of times each year, just me and my camera.
I book a small holiday home, I find they are situated more in the environment than cheep hotels. A little more expensive but you can come and go as you want, eg. leave at 5am for the morning shoot, may be just outside the door of where you are staying or getting back at 2am after a night shoot.
I reduce the cost by sharing with a photographer friend if any want to come along.

My next one is 4 days in May, in the south west of the UK Lake district, an area I have driven through, but never stopped. The holiday home is couple of rooms on the side of a farm house situated in the mid of the countryside. My hope is if the weather is good I will be doing my early morning shoots strait from my bed.

    Keep up the good work
    Peter

  3. Hi Jim, I can’t seem to get to the link you talk about in this podcast. Is the group closed at this point? When I click on it from here or go to the website you mention, it says the page can not be found.

    Thanks!
    Krystal
